“Join us on our mission to ignite change, one student and one community at a time. Together, let’s break barriers, empower minds, and society”
About us
The Peace and Hope Initiative is a Rwandan NGO formed in 2012 and established by the heads of child headed families who were forced to play a parental role for their younger siblings after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. The organisation aims to ensure that poor and vulnerable children irrespective their background have access to basic needs including equal access to proper education, good nutrition and health care. Peace and Hope Initiative also strive to build a better and cohesive society through community projects that target vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, vulnerable women and young people.

OUR PROGRAMS
Peace and Hope Initiative Programs focus on:
- Nursery and Primary Education
- Advocacy for vulnerable Groups
- Partnership and Community Support
“I felt the need to take action to assist the community in breaking free from the cycle of poverty that has trapped them since the 1950s when our parents were denied access to education due to genocide ideology. I began with 78 children selected from child-headed households. As of January 2023, we had 350 children in our program, with over 200 more on a waiting list due to a shortage of classrooms. I would like to invite you to partner with us.”
